Changing a Philosophy and Culture

THE SITUATION
The front office for one of professional sports' elite teams over the past decade asked SNI to help it take an already successful operation and make it even more efficient and effective.  This initiative required SNI to utilize its experiences in both the business and sports worlds, as well as relevant training facilitation and conuslting expertise as part of the solution.  This engagement was about eliminating kinks in the armor versus starting from scratch.

THE SNI SOLUTION
SNI quickly determined that while the front office group was revered around the league as being one of the best, it needed to be more systematic in its overall process.  Staff members were used to being reactive instead of proactive due to the quickly changing dynamics of a professional sports team.  SNI took the group of professionals through its core Negotiation, Influencing, and Dealing with Difficult People programs, along with Coaching on Real Deal Preparation and Strategic Development.  This business partnership has proven so successful that it is now in its fifth year.

THE IMPACT
I was very skeptical of Ron and his ability to help our organization at the start.  We have a very talented group and did not initially grasp the benefits of working with SNI. I will freely admit that I was 100% wrong.  Working with Ron and Mike has made our group stronger and more confident than I could have ever imagined.  Their guidance and partnership has helped our group not only create better deals with players and agents, it has helped us tremendously improve our internal processes and communication as well.  There is no doubt that we are always very well prepared no matter what situation we encounter.  They are now just another part of our family and we're very grateful for their continuous support.

THE RESULT
The Front Office has stated that working with SNI has saved the organization over $50 million with regard to player contracts, and it has benefited the team in other areas of the business in which dollars are harder to quantify.  The key to the success, however, is revealed in the staff's ability to create relationships that are considered respectful and highly valued regardless of the final financial arrangement.  The franchise stands by the fact that this is one of the main reasons it has maintained its high performance level for a number of years.
